Tell us a little about yourself and how your business originated
My name is Natalie, and I am a mum to two wonderful children, a crazy dog, and I own a travel business I started 6.5 years ago. My love for travel started at a young age and has grown as I have gotten older and added more stamps to my passport. I am an adventurer at heart and always look for that ‘wow’ moment in every holiday I book.
Where is your local business based? / Where does your business cover?
I am based here in Brackley; however, I have clients from all across the UK. My business has grown through personal recommendations, which means the world to me. I have a home office where I spend a lot of time, but I am always happy to get out and meet clients in some of our great coffee shops, and I often work evenings to accommodate my clients who can only speak after work.
What services does your business offer?
In a nutshell, everything to do with travel. I wear a few ‘hats’ when it comes to booking your holidays. I am your local travel agent, booking your Jet2, Kuoni, Easyjet, and Inghams packages, just to name a few high-street names you may know. I am also your local tour operator, piecing your holiday together bit by bit until we have the perfect bespoke trip for you that is fully financially protected. I can also make all of the other arrangements, such as airport parking and lounge passes. When it comes to destinations, the world is literally our oyster, and I can book anything from UK staycations to expedition cruises in the Antarctic. It is one of the reasons I love my job so much; no day is the same, and there is just so much to see.
What inspired you to start your business?
I was very fortunate growing up to have grandparents living in Cairo. My Nanna would travel over during the school holidays, pick me up, and take me back to Egypt. I have the fondest memories of exploring Egypt, shopping in the Khan el-Khalili, sailing on a felucca down the Nile, riding camels, and visiting the amazing Egyptian museum. I loved every moment, and being exposed to such a different culture at such a young age really opened my eyes. Fast forward many years, and I had a bit of a moment when I returned to work after my daughter was born. I realised that I had fallen into a bit of a trap in a job that didn’t fulfil me. When we are growing up, our parents and teachers fill us with inspiration to follow our dreams and build a career that we love, and I had the opportunity to practice what I preach and to work in an industry that I was passionate about. It was at this point that I seriously looked into starting my own travel business, and six months later I launched my own. I haven’t looked back since.
What is in store for the future?
Hopefully sending lots of existing and new clients on fabulous holidays. I am also in the process of putting together some private group tours for residents of Brackley and the surrounding villages. I have found that there are so many people who are looking to explore new places but are a bit nervous to do it themselves, so I am getting together a few ideas to help build friendships with some added adventure. Iceland, Morocco, and a trip over to Normandy to visit the Battlefields are currently on the cards, so exciting times are ahead.
How has the Brackley community received your business / services?
With open arms! I have lived here for over 30 years, and it’s a brilliant town.
What makes you different from the competition?
As with most industries, the internet is always a competitor. The main difference that I provide is the service that I offer. I offer a bespoke service to all of my customers, which may include meeting face-to-face to run through their holiday documents, arranging celebration cakes in advance of birthdays and anniversaries, checking clients into their flights, and delivering boarding passes. The list is endless, and I take great care to ensure that my customers feel looked after. Simply put, I cannot always compete with the cheap internet prices (although I often can!), but the internet can never compete with my customer service!
