As autumn transforms the landscape around Stowe, the House offers the perfect escape for those who love history, architecture, and a touch of seasonal splendour. Now is an ideal time to visit while we’re open weekdays as well as weekends, before we move to weekend opening only in December.
Step inside and experience our latest restoration highlights. The magnificent State Dining Room has been beautifully revived, its once-white walls replaced with rich historic colour, while the North Hall now features nine newly installed busts − recently featured on BBC regional news − which have transformed the space back to its 18th-century grandeur.
This autumn also sees exciting new additions to our collection, including a striking portrait of The Duke of Chandos and an elegant silver waiter, both anticipated to be on public display from November.
Don’t miss our Photography Exhibition in the museum, showcasing beautiful images of Stowe captured by visitors. You can even take a piece of Stowe home with our 2026 calendar, featuring all the winning photographs − every purchase supports our conservation work. And if you’re walking in the gardens with your four-legged friend, don’t forget they’re welcome to join you in the House Visitor Centre to take a ‘paws’ for light refreshments. Find us to the bottom left of the steps. Whether you’re revisiting or discovering Stowe House for the first time, autumn is the perfect season to enjoy its beauty, history, and timeless charm.
