Affordable food, friendship & support
Tucked away at Egerton Hall on the Radstone Fields Estate, every Friday lunchtime, Brackley Community Larder is so much more than a place to pick up groceries – it’s a lifeline for many, and a welcoming space that brings people together. Run entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers, the Larder provides high-quality, subsidised food to help ease the pressures of the cost-of-living crisis many of us are feeling. It’s part of a wider network under the Food For Thought Daventry (FFTD) charity and is proudly a member of the Food Aid Alliance West Northants (FAAWN).
Fighting food waste while feeding the community
Much of the food comes via FareShare, a brilliant organisation with a clear mission – to ensure no good food goes to waste. This partnership aligns perfectly with the Larder’s values, making sure surplus food from farms and suppliers reaches local people,
not landfill. In addition to food from
FareShare, volunteers also collect surplus food from local supermarkets and suppliers; acquiring a wide range of cupboard staples, fresh produce and chilled goods to bring to the community each week.
How it works
For just £10 a year, members can access the Larder and shop each week using a simple points system:
• 10 points for £5
• 22 points for £10
• Plus FREE fruit, vegetables
and bread with every shop
This system helps members stretch their budget while still enjoying healthy, nourishing food.
A place to connect – not just collect
But the Larder isn’t only about food. It’s also a community hub – a place where members can stop for a chat, build friendships, and feel supported.
The volunteers are friendly, the atmosphere is warm, and the impact is far-reaching.
