Brackley Community Museum’s World War 1 D-Day exhibit

November is the month when we remember those that have given their lives in wars with the Remembrance parade in the afternoon of Sunday the 10th.

Brackley Community Museum’s World War 1 exhibit D-Day will continue until the end of the year with a few updates happening over this month. The Brackley branch of the Royal British Legion and a couple of other people are very kindly lending them a few items to refresh the display.

For those of you that have not yet seen the exhibit or are unaware that Brackley has a community museum, the items are on display in the library to the left as you enter the main doors.

There are two display cabinets with items from World War 1 as well as a map of Brackley with approximate locations of where some of the soldiers on the war memorial lived.

Along with the display is a PowerPoint showing a timeline and information on some of the main battles of the war and a few facts about the soldiers from Brackley who fell.

The display can be seen during the library opening hours which are: Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm and Saturday 10:00am – 2:00pm.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
