Brackley Library – Books and so much more

Brackley Library on Manor Road is starting 2025 with lots of new ideas to encourage new visitors.
For those who already use the library, you know what a valuable community asset it is for the town. For those yet to visit, it’s worth remembering that your local library is a welcoming and inclusive space that remains free to everyone and so is well worth supporting!

As in previous years, the library continues to run lots of activities and events that are well-attended. But with e-books and audio books readily available to library members online, there was a dip in library visits during 2024 which is part of a national trend. The recent additions of Brackley Community Museum and Northamptonshire Museum display cabinets have attracted visitors from further afield. But to boost numbers further, the library will run a series of additional regular and one-off events.

New for 2025 are:-

• A fortnightly Friday Crafternoon which will run from 2pm – 4pm where you can bring your own craft or just turn up for a chat. Refreshments and a craft will be available and the group is very kindly sponsored by Beautifully Different.
Dates are 7th and 21st February, 7th March and every fortnight from then onwards.

• A monthly Memory Cafe which is a collaboration between Brackley Library and Brackley Care Home and is specifically for those affected by Alzheimer’s and Dementia and their carers. The Memory Cafe will run at Brackley Care Home on the first Wednesday of each month starting from 5th February and at Brackley Library on the third Wednesday of the month starting from 19th February with refreshments available plus an activity to spark memories and conversation.
Both venues will run the cafe from 2pm – 4pm.
For further information please contact Julie Wilson from Brackley Care Home on 01280 313135 or email Brackley Library at brackley.libraryplus@westnorthants.gov.uk

• A bi monthly Indoor Table Top Sale run on the last Saturday of March, May, July and September from 11am – 1pm. If you are having a clear out and want to make some spare cash then book a table for £5 and sell your wares. Crafters are also welcome. Book your table at the library or email the address below.

• Big events with craft stalls and activities for children will run on 1st March and 22nd November from 10am – 2pm. Father Christmas was a great hit at the library in 2024 and they look forward to welcoming him back in November. If you are interested in having a stall, please email the library at the address below. £5 per table.

• During February half term there will be an opportunity for GCSE and A level students to take advantage of the “Revision Guide Amnesty” the library is currently running. Revision guides that are no longer needed can be dropped off at the library so they can be made available to current exam students who may not be able to afford them.

This is just the tip of the iceberg as there will be quiz nights, craft events and much more planned throughout the year.

If you are interested in taking part in one of the events, are considering a space to hire or just want to find out more, please email the library at brackley.libraryplus@westnorthants.gov.uk or pop in.

The library is open Monday- Friday 9am – 5pm and Saturday 10am – 2pm.
