Brackley Hogwatch was set up in 2011 by local hedgehog researcher Andrew Jackson to investigate the increased level of juvenile mortality in the local hedgehog population each winter. The research team discovered a huge collapse in the first litter survival rate. It then became clear that preventing extinction depends entirely on reversing the catastrophic surge in juvenile mortality.
