As the cool, crisp days of Autumn settle in, our thoughts turn to cosy comfort foods to sustain us through the chilly months ahead. There’s nothing quite like the enticing aroma of a slow-cooked stew to welcome you in from the cold, and beef with ale is a firm favourite in the café for our Friday night offerings.
But we don’t use just any ale—we proudly source our beer from the local Roman Way Brewery in Weedon. This brewery, situated on the ancient Watling Street, Britain’s first Roman road, draws inspiration for its name and its brews from this historic location. Back in 47 AD, the Romans, while constructing this extensive route from Dover through London to Wroxeter in Shropshire, discovered and eagerly embraced Celtic Ale, a tradition that had been cherished on our island for centuries.
We are fortunate to have Roman Way Brewery craft a special beer exclusively for us, aptly named Westbeery. This unique ale is the secret ingredient that makes our stew so irresistible and comforting.
If your curiosity is piqued and your taste buds are tingling, we invite you to join us on Friday, November 29th, for our Christmas Open Evening. The evening promises a festive atmosphere with tree lighting, a visit from Santa, shopping opportunities, and carol singing. It’s the perfect occasion to experience the delightful brews from Roman Way Brewery, whether you’re sipping on a beer, or picking up a gift pack for the beer lovers
in your life.
Mark your calendars and come celebrate the season with us.
