Brackley’s much loved craft beer bar has a new name and big plans for the future. Formerly Good For What Ales Ya, the venue recently rebranded as 20 Arches – a name that celebrates the town’s railway heritage.
The name refers to Viaduct No. 527, a 20-arched structure that once carried the Great Central Railway over the Ouse Valley. Although demolished in 1978, the viaduct remains an iconic part of Brackley’s past, and the team behind 20 Arches wanted to reflect that history in their identity.
Now two years in, 20 Arches marked its second anniversary with a major expansion. The team took over the neighbouring unit to double their capacity, and the rebrand coincided with Phase 2 of their growth: improving the frontage with new signage, lighting and more outdoor seating. What began as a small bar with a passion for craft beer has grown into a vibrant hub for the local community, known for its selection of high-quality beers from the UK, Europe, and the US.
Looking ahead, there’s even more to raise a glass to. Phase 3 of the plan is to build Brackley’s first working brewery in over 60 years, converting a small building at the rear of the bar into a nano brewery.
To bring this vision to life, 20 Arches has launched a crowdfunding campaign, combining support from the community with independent lending. Weekly vlogs and behind-the-scenes updates offer a personal look at the journey, and locals are invited to be part of it.
With a strong sense of place and a loyal following, 20 Arches is bridging Brackley’s past and future – one pint at a time.
