Westbury Shop Fresh Eggs

Fresh, locally laid eggs from Westbury Community Shop

Spring is in the air, and that means that Easter is just around the corner! While it might not have
the same glitz and glamour as Christmas, Easter is a wonderful reminder that winter is behind us.

The wildflowers are blooming, lambs are frolicking, and of course, there are eggs everywhere!
Eggs have been synonymous with Easter since the early Christians and are thought to have been used to celebrate Easter as they were prohibited during lent.

Our local eggs come from a farm in Evenley, as part of our mission to support local producers and reduce food miles.

Eggs are little nutritional powerhouses, containing plenty of protein and vitamins such B2, B12 and D, plus selenium and iodine, and they can be used to whip up super healthy meals in no time at all.

A couple of our favourite recipes are for frittatas, like an easy quiche, and a brilliant way to use up your other veg too.

A discussion about Easter cannot possibly not mention the chocolate variety too, which came into popular culture in the 1870’s, with Fry’s and Cadbury’s both developing easter eggs.

We will continue our tradition of taking easter eggs to new heights, with the return of the crème egg toastie to the café menu along with crème egg brownies, in addition to a full selection of easter cards and goodies in the shop. Come to Westbury Village Shop and indulge your sweet tooth!
