What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a therapy used to treat back pain and other problems with the bones, muscles and joints. Chiropractors treat all areas of the body, but particularly concentrate on the spine. They typically use their hands to make adjustments to the joints in order to reduce pain, improve function and increase mobility.

Chiropractic is tailored to the individual so a chiropractor will draw on other treatments such as acupuncture and taping depending on the client’s needs.

Chiropractors treat the cause of the problem and aim for long-term relief, not just a short-term quick fix. With chiropractic care, emphasis is on prevention and your chiropractor will give you exercises and advice to prevent reoccurrences as well as help with recovery.

Chiropractors are healthcare professionals and the chiropractic profession is regulated by law. The statutory regulator is the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and it is illegal to practise as a chiropractor without being registered with the GCC. All registered chiropractors have undergone a minimum of four years’ full-time training.

All patients are treated as individuals. Following an examination and assessment, a bespoke treatment plan is carefully designed to meet your needs.

Treatments may include:

Chiropractic
A treatment where the chiropractor uses their hands to help relieve problems with the bones, muscles and joints.

Cupping
A form of alternative medicine dating back to the ancient Egyptians. Special cups are put on the skin to create a vacuum, drawing blood to the surface of the skin to promote healing.

Acupuncture
Fine needles are inserted in to the body to restore the body’s balance.

Taping
Correctly applied tape provides support and stability to muscles and joints whilst they are healing.

Instrument Assisted Massage / FAKTR
The use of instruments to speed up recovery from musculoskeletal injury and treat acute conditions.

Fascial Manipulation
Manual soft tissue therapy that alleviates pain and improves movement in the musculoskeletal system.

The DORN Method
A gentle therapy used to align the spine and pelvis so reducing back, neck, and joint pain.

Parking is available on the driveway outside the house. The treatment room is on the ground floor so there is no need to be concerned if you’re finding it hard to negotiate stairs.

I look forward to meeting and treating you!
