My first few weeks as Mayor have been busy, enjoyable and a real reminder of just how much community spirit we have here in Brackley.
The day after Mayor Making I was proud to support one of my chosen charities, SNYE, at their table top sale. It was a lovely way to begin the year and an early opportunity to see local people coming together to help others.
Since then I have had the pleasure of meeting the outgoing Chairman of West Northamptonshire Council at Delapré Abbey, where I also had the honour of meeting the High Sheriff of Northamptonshire and hearing about the valuable work of the Chairman’s chosen charities, Maggie’s Cancer Support and the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust.
Closer to home I was delighted to host Brackley’s Annual Town Meeting, which brought residents, councillors and community groups together to discuss important local issues including recycling, biodiversity and environmental projects.
It was also a pleasure to attend Buckingham’s Mayor Making and to support Danny at The Old Bakery during his impressive 24-hour Bake-A-Thon in aid of Dogs for Good.
Thank you to everyone who has welcomed me so warmly into this role and to all those who give their time to make Brackley such a supportive and welcoming town.
Cllr Jason Kew
Mayor of Brackley
