Since 2002, Defern Beauty has been a staple of Brackley’s Market Square, offering top-tier beauty treatments and a welcoming retreat for relaxation. As they celebrate 23 years in business, we sat down with the team to discuss their journey, their commitment to quality, and what the future holds.
How long have you been in Brackley?
We are proud to have been in the heart of Brackley Town Centre for 23 years. We love being in the Town Centre. Being central makes it easy for clients who need to park, as we have parking directly outside. There’s also an array of great cafés and shops on our doorstep, so clients can run essential errands during their visit, or meet friends for coffee or lunch.
What’s the secret to staying in business so long?
There are two key focuses for us, ensuring the business is one that everyone is proud to be a part of, and valuing our customers. We have a dedicated team of staff at Defern, and we all genuinely enjoy going to work. We all support each other, and we love what we do. Every single client at Defern is important. Whether you’re visiting for your essential wax treatment or a pampering Elemis facial. We have clients that have been loyal customers for decades coming weekly, and we also have clients just starting their beauty journey with us. We pay attention to what our client’s say, we invite feedback, and every voice is listened to.
Tell us about your team
Melissa and Katie joined Defern as Therapists over 10 years ago and Jade has been with us for 4 years. Our newest edition to the full-time team, another Jade, joined us last year after spending three years as a Cowshed Therapist within a busy Cotswold spa. Emma is our Sports & Remedial massage therapist and nail technician; she is enjoying her third year within the salon.
Our hardworking and enthusiastic academy team are thriving since joining us straight from Magdalen School. Two of our academy trainees are in their second year now and our newest member joined last September.
What makes your salon unique?
It’s all about the “experience” we provide for our clients, the small extra touches that go beyond what’s expected. Whether you are wanting to relax and unwind at the nail bar with a glass of bubbly or melt into our extra soft treatment beds surrounded by candlelight for an indulgent facial or massage.
Defern is a place to feel special. It’s not a task to keep up you’re your beauty regime; it’s a date in your diary you look forward to.
What is in store for the future?
We have invested heavily over the last three years in two areas; training and space. We have extended our salon to create three more treatment rooms, and the team have been training with our skincare partner
Elemis on new skin treatments and technologies.
This year will see us putting our new space and training in to action, introducing new treatments in line with the latest beauty products and technology. To remain the stand out salon leader locally, it is important to continuously educate ourselves and research what’s new and what’s good in the beauty market.
