We are a family run business with over 35 years of experience and have established a  name for ourselves in delivering incomparable results. Our work is always carried out to the highest standards of excellence and professionalism. We work closely with our clients and treat every project individually to provide a friendly, personalised experience to meet their exact specifications. We use traditionally tried and tested skills and materials in our work whilst integrating them with the best conservation practices where applicable.

​Chatfield Furniture Conservation has a very diverse mix of clients. Over the years, we have developed very strong relationships with many of the Oxford Colleges, privately owned historic houses and discerning collectors of fine furniture. However, we all inherit items from our families and quite often, many clients just pop in with a bedroom chair or a Victorian work box that needs a little TLC. We will give all objects the same care and attention without prejudice.

At Chatfield Fine Furniture, our core business has always been restoration and conservation. We will never over restore an item undoing years of  history, patination and ultimately value. We always try and intervene as little as possible, enabling the furniture to keep functioning, preserving the original aesthetics and providing our clients with great value for money.

​The majority of our work is done in our fully equipped, alarmed and secure workshop. Over our trading years we have amassed a team of like minded craftsmen who are experts in their own fields. So, if we cannot undertake the work in-house, we are able to draw on their skills and knowledge to help conclude projects successfully.

We are also proud to offer our clients a bespoke cabinet making service, creating new pieces which are not only in keeping with their surroundings but also meet our clients exacting requirements.

We enjoy building faithful reproductions of much loved heirlooms and designing modern pieces with a traditional influence whilst always utilising our traditional furniture making skills.
