Equilore is a local charity providing equine-facilitated psychotherapy and learning for
children aged 7+, young people and adults who are struggling with their mental health.
Founded in 2017 and registered as a charity in 2020, Equilore was created to support those who may find it difficult to engage with traditional talking therapies or who are waiting for other forms of support.
Our sessions take place outdoors and involve working with horses from the ground. Through guided activities and interaction with the horses, participants can explore emotions, develop confidence, and build skills such as communication, trust and emotional awareness.
Horses communicate largely through body language and respond to subtle changes in human behaviour, offering immediate feedback that can help people better understand themselves and their relationships with others.
Equilore supports people experiencing challenges such as anxiety, trauma, loss, low confidence and relationship difficulties. As a charity, we rely on community support, donations and fundraising to help make our services accessible.
We are excited to be hosting an Open Day on 9th May, giving local residents the chance to visit the yard, meet the herd and learn more about equine-facilitated therapy. Visitors will be able to try short taster sessions, explore the space where sessions take place, and speak with our team about how the work supports wellbeing.
