With warmer days upon us, many folks are looking for refreshing drinks to chill out after a long day or to kick off the weekend. Saxby’s, available at Westbury Community Shop and Café, has got you covered with a variety of traditional and flavoured ciders. Fun fact: the UK guzzles down more cider than any other country!
Started in 2011 on a farm in Northamptonshire, Saxby’s originally raised pigs for over a century before switching gears and planting 3,500 apple trees. With over 2,500 indigenous apple varieties to choose from, they selected eight; a selection of both dessert and cider apples from which they produce all their cider. In addition to traditional cider, they also offer fruit flavoured, using local fruit such as rhubarb, strawberry and blackcurrant to enhance the flavour.
If you’re into celebratory spritzes, check out the Slider Spritz made from apples and sloes. Mix it with sparkling water, elderflower fizz, or prosecco for a party-ready drink. Perfect for serving to guests at a BBQ to accompany sticky cider onion hot dogs.
