Vintage Wonder Ice Cream was never meant to be just about ice cream.
After very suddenly losing my gorgeous husband Graham, I bought Gigi – a 1971 pink Bedford ice cream van with a lot of personality and a story of her own. What began as a way of finding some joy again slowly became something much bigger: a business built around creating happy memories for other people.
These days, Gigi spends her summers at beautiful weddings, stylish corporate events and celebrations across the local area, never travelling more than 25 miles from Brackley – she is over 55 years old after all, and deserves a slightly gentler pace of life.
This year will also be our third year serving guests at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix the last two in hospitality at the Octane Terrace, which still feels incredibly special every time
we arrive.
I think people book Gigi because she makes them feel something. There’s nostalgia, excitement and a little bit of magic attached to her. Children run towards her, adults photograph her before they’ve even ordered, and somehow she turns an ice cream into part of the memory of the day.
For me, that’s what Vintage Wonder is really about – not simply serving ice cream, but creating moments people remember long after the last
ice cream cone has been
handed over.
