You may already know Mo as the face behind Brackley’s Rock My Dress. Now she’s bringing her love of people, performance and storytelling to another part of the wedding day with Rock My Vows.
Some of you may already know me as Mo from Rock My Dress here in Brackley, where I spend much of my working life surrounded by beautiful dresses, excited brides and all things weddings.
But there’s another part of the wedding day that I absolutely
love – the ceremony.
And that’s where Rock My Vows comes in. Becoming a wedding celebrant felt like a very natural fit for me. Before running my own business, I spent years teaching and performing, so standing in front of an audience, telling stories and making people feel at ease has always been part of who I am. But being a celebrant is about so much more than standing at the front and reading a script. For me, it starts with getting to know my couples. I want to hear how they met, what made them fall in love, the adventures they’ve shared, what makes them laugh, what drives them slightly mad about one another – and all those little moments that have made their relationship what it is. Then I take all of that and create a ceremony that feels unmistakably them It might be romantic and traditional, relaxed and fun, full of laughter and surprises – or, as is often the case, a little bit of everything.
That freedom is one of the things I love most about celebrant-led weddings. There’s no standard script and no need for one couple’s ceremony to look like anybody else’s. We can include personal vows, favourite readings, family and friends, meaningful rituals, surprise contributions from guests – and even four-legged members of the wedding party!
Couples complete the legal formalities separately, leaving us free to create a ceremony that reflects who they really are and how they want this part of their wedding day to feel
I’ve already had the privilege of conducting ceremonies both here in the UK and overseas, and there’s something incredibly special about standing at the front and watching a couple hear their story being told.
But I watch their guests too. If they’re laughing one minute and reaching for a tissue the next, I know we’ve got it right. Because I don’t want your guests simply to watch your ceremony. I want them to feel part of it. I want them to recognise you in the stories; laugh at the moments they remember and perhaps discover something about you they never knew.
Running Rock My Dress has shown me time and again that no two brides are the same. And being a celebrant has shown me exactly the same thing about couples. Every relationship is different. Every wedding is different. Every story is different. Your ceremony should be too. That’s what Rock My Vows is all about. Your people. Your personalities. Your memories. Your story.
Your story told perfectly.
